Install UltimateTiny-MCE Editor
Ultimate Tiny-MCE Editor The Full Installation
What Is Ultimate Tiny-MCE?
For those of you who don’t know, utmce (as it’s called for short) is a free wordpress plugin that adds more than 45+ buttons to your visual editor, along with quite a few other options. You can really create some very nice content with the click of a button.
Here is what a standard WordPress visual editor looks like without the extra plugin:
How To Install
In fact, this can cause people a bit of frustration sometimes. Don’t worry! It is a straightforward procedure, but can be a bit confusing upon first getting the plugin.
In case this is your first time installing a plugin (It could be, because this plugin is one of the ones you should always install first), I am going to make it as simple as possible.
Go into plugins -> add new
Type in “Ultimate TinyMCE”
Click “Install Now” on the first result (make sure the name matches).
Once it has installed, click the “Activate Plugin” button.
Congratulation installation done! A small pop-up asks if you want to take a tour around the plug-in. You can if you want, but this training is going to make it unnecessary to do that.
Setting Up The Plugin
You’ll notice at the bottom of your dashboard there is now an “Ultimate TinyMCE” button. Click it to get to the settings page. You can also go into plugins and click the settings button there.
you’ll end up here either way.
This page can be confusing at first, too many buttons! Where do I start? Let’s take a closer look here.
A- Buttons Options
By default set, the settings page opens up on this tab, but if you ever get lost, this is how you find it.
When you install the plugin at first, all the extra buttons are “off”. You have to check the box to enable them. I don’t recommend you install all of them immediately. You can later install them as needed.
C- The Row Selection
Not all the buttons can fit on one row on your visual editor. You have to select whether you want them on Row 1,2,3, or 4. If you put too many on one row, it will look ugly like you see below…
If that happens, go back into this settings page and choose a different row. There IS space for all the buttons at once.
Once you have finished adding some buttons, click the “update button options” button at the top or bottom of the page. That will save it and add it all to your visual editor.
This is it, Now it’s time to create a new page or post to check if you have it set up the way you want it.
