What is a webmaster? Get The Full explanation

A Webmaster is the administrator or the owner of a website – Generally, a webmaster’s responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing up a website idea and a niche from scratch
  • Registering and maintaining the website’s domain name
  • Designing the website, or supervise page designers and programmers
  • Monitoring the size of the site to ensure allowed bandwidth and disk space is not exceeded
  • Site security and taking appropriate measures against cyber attacks
  • Planning future growth, requirements and limitations of the website
  • Taking all the important and final decisions regarding the site.

Most Commercial sites require websites that are not only attractive to the eye, but easy to navigate, search, and in the case of retailers, to purchase from.

Scripts that return error codes or pages that hang customers out to dry spell lost sales to the online merchant. Webmasters are responsible for ensuring every visitor can use the site with ease and find their way to what they need or want without any hassle or bumpy rides

Not too long ago, Internet websites were designed from scratch using HyperText Markup Language (HTML).

And today HTML editors and Web-creation interfaces makes it possible for anyone to be a “webmaster” with little or no knowledge of HTML.

The Point-and-click – And what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) programs will do all the coding while the user simply indicates what type of design he/ she wishes.
