What Is Am Radio- Get Full Details
What Is Am Radio?
AM Radio broadcast- is the process of using amplitude modulation (AM) waves for broadcasting. AM was the first to impressing sound on a radio signal and is still very widely used today.
public and commercial AM broadcasting is authorized in the medium wave band worldwide, also in parts of the long wave and short wave signals.
The Radio broadcasting was made possible by the invention of the amplifying vacuum tube, the Audion (triode), by Lee De Forest (Picture at right) in 1906, that led to the development of inexpensive vacuum tube, AM radio receivers, and transmitters during the first world war.
The commercial AM broadcasting developed from amateur broadcasts around the 1920’s, it was the only commercially important form of radio broadcasting until FM broadcasting began after the second world war.
That particular period is known as the “Golden Age of the Radio”. Nowadays, AM competes with FM, as well as with various digital radio broadcasting services distributed from terrestrial and satellite transmitters.
The higher levels of interference experienced with AM transmission have caused AM broadcasters to specialize sports, news, and talk radio shows, leaving music transmission to FM.
Guglielmo Marconi, 1st Marquis of Marconi was an Italian inventor and electrical engineer, known for his pioneering work on long-distance radio transmission. in 1909 Marconi received the Nobel prize for creating the Radio and shortwaves, Marconi also invented other electronic devices, he died in 1937.
