What Is RAM- Random Access Memory?- Get The Full Information

RAM-Random Access Memory

RAM is the shortcut of (Random Access Memory) unit  and is the “working memory” in a computer.

RAM sufficiency allows a computer to work with more information at the same time which can have a great positive effect on your total system performance. Ram is also known as main memory, internal memory, memory “stick”, RAM “stick” and primary storage.

RAM is typically referred to simply as “memory” even though other types of memory are inside a computer.

A motherboard supports only a certain range of memory types in certain combinations so always check with your motherboard manufacturer before a buy.

In my opinion the top RAM manufacturer is Kingston Even though there are other qualified manufacturers like Crucial Technology, and Corsair

How does RAM look like?

A standard “module” or “stick like” of desktop memory- is a long, thin piece of hardware and resembles a short ruler.

The bottom of the memory module has one or more notches to guide for proper installation and is lined with a bunch of, gold-plated connectors.

The Memory is installed in memory module slots located on the motherboard. The slots are easily locatable by looking for the small hinges on either side that lock the memory in place.

Certain sizes of modules may need to be installed in specific slots so always check with your motherboard manufacturer before purchasing or installing.

The Memory modules come with numerous storage capabilities and can be purchased in 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8G  sizes and more.

These memory capabilities are constantly changing to more power as the tech revolution keeps marching.
